afPE Award

This year, the school celebrated its success at achieving the afPE Quality Mark award that runs for 3 years. This is a prestigious award and a powerful way of celebrating success. The afPE Quality Mark has recognised, through a succinct self review and evaluation process, the strength and quality of physical education and sport in our school. It has raised the profile of the subject and the school both locally and nationally and has promoted the high quality work that has been(and continues to be) undertaken on a day to day basis.

High quality physical education and sport make a difference to the learning and experiences of children and young people, both within the subject and more widely across the curriculum. St Elphin's will endeavour to keep up the high standards that this award required and will be applying for the next award in 3 years.

Look out for the afPE logo on the bottom of our home page!

New Sport Council

Well done to the new Y5 Sport Council members. These are:

Jessica, Euan, Tamara, Eve, Alfie, Mason, Lily-Mae, Oliver, Dominic, Ruby, Thomas and Alfie

As part of their role, our super Sport Councillors have completed the 3 day Leadership Camp at Beamont College. Here, the children developed the leadership and organisational skills that they will be applying in and around school when they start to run their own sporting activities.

Judo can give so much more to children than just belts and medals.  It can be a way of improving their day to day life and help them lead it in a more disciplined and respectful manner. Once again, Judo Education have been running a lunchtime club for KS2 with over 33 children taking part! Some of the children are the same ones who took part last year and loved it so much that they are taking part again. We also have a large number of new pupils who are also enjoying the benefits of Judo.

New football kit has arrived!

Thank you to Premier Stars who have kindly sent us a brand new Nike football kit for our sports teams. We now have a range of kits for A, B and C teams.

Miss Baxendale is very happy with her Cheer Squad and has commented on their commitment and creativity during training as they prepare for their Spring Showcase performance.

Football league

The football league, comprising 12 schools, (organised and run by Mr Baker) is well underway. St Elphin's has completed a number of training games and have played their first match against Oakwood, 4-0.
