Spirituality
At St Elphin’s, Together in Faith we learn, we share, we serve, we care, and we strive to be a place where everyone can flourish. We are committed to nurturing the mind, body and soul, recognising that spirituality enriches every aspect of school life.
We recognise that spirituality is unique and personal to each individual. By educating the whole child and providing thoughtful experiences, we support every pupil on their own journey of discovery and growth. We understand spirituality as a journey that encourages us to explore life’s big questions, deepen relationships with ourselves and others, care for the world and environment, and grow in our understanding of God. We also recognise that spirituality is not the same as faith; it is something that can be experienced by everyone. Through this shared journey, we help pupils reflect on the meaning and purpose of life and flourish together as part of our school community.
These are some of the areas that contribute to our spiritual learning in school: -
Collective Worship
Reflection Areas
Prayer Space
Big Questions
RE Teaching and Learning
OPAL Play
PSHE/ RSE Curriculum

At St Elphin’s, times of stillness and reflection help nurture pupils’ spiritual development by creating space to be calm, listen and become more aware of God’s presence in their lives. Through quiet reflection and prayerful moments, children are encouraged to move away from worry and distraction towards peace, compassion and gratitude. This supports them in growing in self-awareness, caring for others and developing a deeper relationship with God and the world around them. We encourage families to explore simple mindfulness and reflection activities together at home, and invite parents to have a go using the resources available at https://taketime.org.uk/.
