Special Events & Competitions in School 2025-2026
Year 4 Clonter Theatre Trip 12/03/26
Year 3/4 and Year 4 recently enjoyed an exciting and creative visit to Clonter Theatre, where they spent the day learning about different aspects of theatre production.
When the pupils arrived, they quickly settled in before beginning their first workshops. The class was split into two groups so that everyone could experience a range of activities. One group started with a Music Composition workshop, where pupils created their own pieces of music and learned how sound can help tell a story on stage. At the same time, the other group explored Lighting Design, experimenting with special lighting techniques such as GOBO patterns to see how lighting can change the mood and atmosphere of a performance.
After a short break, the groups swapped activities so everyone had the chance to try both music and lighting. It was fascinating for the pupils to see how much work goes on behind the scenes in a theatre.
Following lunch, the afternoon sessions focused on other creative areas. In Costume Design, pupils thought carefully about characters and designed costumes that would help bring them to life on stage. The other workshop took place on the theatre stage, where pupils took part in a Stage Awareness and Set Configuration session. They learned how actors move around the stage and how sets are arranged to create different scenes.
Throughout the day, Year 4 showed fantastic creativity, teamwork and enthusiasm. The visit helped the pupils understand how many different skills are needed to create a theatre production.
Overall they had brilliant day at Clonter Theatre and returned to school with lots of new ideas and a greater appreciation for the world of theatre and they performing arts.

Duck Day! - 27/02/2026
Thank you to everyone who joined in with our Duck Day today and donated. The money raised will help pay to have live duck eggs in our reception class next week! Watching duck eggs hatch helps Reception children experience awe and wonder at new life, nurturing curiosity, care and responsibility while reflecting Christian values of creation, love and respect for all living things.

Exciting Stone Age Workshop – January 2026
As part of our History topic on The Stone Age, the children in Year 3 had the amazing opportunity to take part in an interactive Stone Age workshop right here at school!
Delivered by Dan Tastic Education (www.dantasticeducation.com), this hands-on experience brought the Stone Age to life with costumes, real-life tools, and fascinating artefacts for the children to explore.
During the session, pupils were able to see, touch, and handle genuine Stone Age-style artefacts, helping them gain a real sense of what life was like thousands of years ago. In the extended “Spectacular Session,” children also had the chance to work in groups, draw and write about the artefacts, and deepen their historical understanding through creative activities.

Winter Themed Competitions
In December our arts champions lauched a winter themed art competiton. Everyone was invited to create a piece of art work which shows the beauty of wintertime. We had a huge response so we asked Mrs McKinnon, one of our Governors, to help us decide on the winners. children from Nursery to Year 6 won p

Our Winter Ceramics
In November we invited our Arts Team Leaders and some other gifted artists from across school, to take part in a special ceramics session. The children designed and made a snowman trinket tray which was taken away, fired and glazed by our local artist Deb.
